Pap Smear Screenings
Early detection of cervical abnormalities for better health outcomes
About Pap Smears
A Pap smear (or Pap test) is a simple but crucial procedure that can detect abnormal cells in the cervix before they become cancerous. Regular screening remains the most effective protection against cervical cancer, potentially saving lives through early detection.
Our Screening Process
Our Pap smears are performed exclusively by experienced female clinicians who prioritize your comfort. The quick procedure takes about 5 minutes with minimal discomfort. You'll receive your results within 1-2 weeks, accompanied by clear follow-up recommendations tailored to your results. We ensure compassionate care throughout the entire process.
Screening Recommendations
We recommend regular Pap tests for women ages 21-65 as part of preventive care. Women aged 21-29 should schedule testing every 3 years, while those 30-65 may choose between Pap tests every 3 years or co-testing with HPV every 5 years. Patients with higher risk factors may need more frequent screening as determined by our clinicians.
Note: These guidelines may vary based on individual health history and previous test results. Our doctors will personalize your screening schedule during your consultation.
HPV Co-Testing
For women 30 and older, we recommend combining your Pap smear with HPV testing, since human papillomavirus is the primary cause of cervical cancer. This dual testing approach provides the most comprehensive assessment of your cervical health and helps determine your optimal screening interval.
What to Expect
During your Pap test, which is performed as part of a pelvic exam, a speculum is gently inserted to visualize your cervix. Using a small brush, your clinician will collect cell samples from the cervix. While you may experience mild pressure or brief discomfort, the procedure is generally not painful. Our team specializes in making the experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
